Dade Prep takes a field trip to Frost Museum of Science, Aquarium & Planetarium

Learning is not limited to the classroom. Much of what are students discover happens outside of class, in places where they can actually witness what they are learning in action. This is the case with the upcoming field trip to Frost Science Museum, Aquarium & Planetarium. Located on Biscayne Boulevard in the heart of Miami, the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum is one of the leading museums for science, innovation and technology in the world.

Visiting in the Frost Museum will give our students an opportunity for a hands-on experience of what they see and learn every day in our science classes. Not only does it have so many amazing exhibits, but it combines all the different aspects of science including weather, technology, biology, and astronomy. While the kids can see the interaction of all the different species of fish and aquatic plants and animals in the aquarium, they also get a chance to look up at the stars in the museum’s planetarium. This makes the Frost one of the most comprehensive science museums here in the United States.

The importance of hands-on learning

Classroom education is very important to young students. This is where they develop their foundation in the basics of study, including science, match, English, and social sciences. This gives them something to build on as their education progresses. But reading about it in a book or hearing about it from your teacher is often not enough. Our young students also have to experience it in person. This is why our field trip to places like the Frost Museum are of such paramount importance to their growth.

There are few things more rewarding for our teachers here at Dade Prep than to see the smiles and looks of understanding on the faces of our students as they experience things at the Frost Museum. They can see for themselves how what they have learned in class has actual, practical applications in life. When a student is able to experience something they learned, it can have a profound impact on their studies. It becomes a reward in and of itself for each student.

Exhibits at the Frost Museum

The Frost Museum features some of the most amazing exhibits for students, teachers, and fans of science. The three-level aquarium houses some of the most beautiful sea life in this part of Florida. The planetarium uses a 16-million color 8K projector to display the wonders of the universe. The power of science exhibit gives kids a sense of how cutting edge technologies, while the MeLab allows them to explore how body and mind work together. These and other permanent and current exhibitions will give the students an understanding of the wonders of science and how they apply to their own lives.

Dade Prep emphasizes opportunities

Our staff is dedicated to giving the students at Dade Prep the opportunities they need to build on their education. This includes going on field trips to places like the Frost Museum. Once they have visited the Frost Museum, they can take the experiences they had and the things they learned back into the classroom to further develop their education. Furthermore, it can inspire our students to consider a future in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) for their education and careers.

One of the great things about being in the Miami area is our access to so many amazing museums and learning centers. Miami is one of the fastest growing cities in America, and Dade Prep is positioned to help our students capture the resources here for their education and future vocational opportunities. Whether they want to dive down deep into the ocean as part of their career or reach for the stars, a trip to the Frost Museum gives them one more building block in their education. Our staff at Dade Prep are here to assist them, and look forward to taking them on other field trips in the future.
